Founding Sponsor and Supporting Unions
When the idea of DHLI was first conceived, it was through the generous donations of Los Angeles labor unions that helped bring the idea to life. With support from the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, twelve (12) Founding Sponsor Unions each generously committed to give $10,000 or $5,000 per year for three (3) years for a total of $30,000 or $15,000 each, respectively, to support the initial establishment of DHLI as a program within the Los Angeles Community College District. After the Founding Sponsor list closed, several unions continued to contribute funds to support the program.
