EXCELLENCE IN WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AWARDS

HISTORY OF THE AWARDS

On November 29, 2000, the Office of Workforce Development held its first annual award ceremony. The event was created and developed by Dr. Richard Pfefferman, then Dean of Workforce Development.  Academic administrators throughout the district nominated their best programs. The selection committee consisted of workforce development leaders from L.A. and Orange County colleges outside the LACCD, as well as local business and government leaders in the field of workforce development.

Programs receive cash awards from the Chancellor and recognition certificates from members of the Board of Trustees, and are showcased in the District Office Board Room.

The Excellence in Workforce Development Awards Event is now an annual event. Last year's Awards ceremony, "Workforce Development Programs: Shaping California’s future" took place on May 9, 2007 at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College.
