Student Housing Forum Summary Report

On October 28, 2023, LACCD hosted a Student Housing Forum to provide an opportunity for community and key stakeholder input, solicit information to guide district policy and share information on LACCD’s assessment of the housing delivery methods.

Key takeaways to guide LACCD as it develops the Programming and Project Design Criteria (PPC) and its operations policy.

Student Participation:

  • Including learning or internship opportunities

  • Address needs immediately/ access to existing housing

Addressing Homelessness:

  • Consideration of non-traditional housing, like pod-sharing, short-term, modular, interim, tiny homes

  • Consideration for transitional housing once a student graduates from LACCD

  • Affordable and in close proximity to Colleges

  • Services to support mental health/ assistance to overcome abuse

Eligibility:

  • Accessible to all students, including students with families, documentation status, pets

  • Provide financial tools for off-site housing, such as vouchers

Housing Development:

  • Quality development with proper oversight

  • Design include security features

  • Buildings should include dedicated study areas, gathering spaces, kitchen and laundry areas, security, and Wi-Fi
