Geraldine Sandoval-Fernandez - LAHC Student Spotlight of the Week

Geraldine Sandoval-Fernandez attended and graduated from San Pedro High School, Class of 2024, and had the opportunity to be a dual enrollment student at Harbor College. She began taking college classes in her freshman year of high school and continued through her senior year, which helped build her academic foundation. Through hard work and dedication, she achieved the following at Harbor College: IGETC certification, two associate degrees in Liberal Arts and Humanities and Social and Behavioral Sciences, and graduated with the distinction of Cum Laude.

She applied to several local schools and ultimately decided to transfer to Cal State Long Beach, entering with junior status. With just a year and a half remaining, she is on track to graduate in the Class of 2026 from CSULB, earning a B.A. in Psychology at just 20 years old!

Currently, Geraldine works as a student ambassador in the Dual Enrollment Office at Harbor College. She has the incredible opportunity to serve middle school, high school, and Harbor College students. She enjoys inspiring dual enrollment students who are following a similar path, sharing her journey, and motivating them to persevere and prepare for a four-year university. She is grateful to Harbor College for providing opportunities that have allowed her to expand her education and build herself as a person.

After earning her B.A., Geraldine plans to pursue either a doctorate or a Master’s degree with a Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) credential in Psychology. She hopes to continue working with students after graduation, advocating for a community college education. She believes that community colleges offer a personalized approach and dedicated support to every student, saying, “Education changes everything.”
