2025 STUDENT TRUSTEE ELECTION INFORMATION
The Student Trustee is an important elected position charged with representing the interests of students and advocating on their behalf. The Student Trustee serves as a member of the Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees, as authorized by the California Education Code.
The Student Trustee is seated with the members of the Board and is recognized as a full member at meetings. The Student Trustee has an advisory vote, and may make and second motions at the discretion of the Board. The Student Trustee also serves as the Chair of the District-wide Student Affairs Committee (SAC), which is composed of elected ASO/U/G presidents from the nine campuses.
At the discretion of the Board, the Student Trustee receives a monthly stipend of $500, plus mileage, for attending Board and business meetings.
The term of office is from June 1, 2025 to May 31, 2026.
The 2025 LACCD Student Trustee election process opens Monday, February 10, 2025. Student Trustee Application deadline is March 14, 2025 and elections will be held the week of April 28.
Students interested in running for the district wide student trustee position must begin the process by completing the Student Trustee application. To request a Student Trustee application, please visit the Office of Student Life or Associate Student Organization/Union or Government Office (ASO/U/G) at your home college or online via Cranium Café.
The completed application for LACCD Student Trustee must be verified by the student’s home college before name can appear on the ballot. Be sure to complete all required sections.
Student Trustee Application Checklist
Before submitting your online or paper application for Student Trustee to the ASO/U/G office at your home college, please review the below checklist.
- Read Board Policy 2015 “Student Trustee” and Board Policy 2105 “Election of Student Trustee” at https://go.boarddocs.com/ca/laccd/Board.nsf/Public for requirements to serve as LACCD Student Trustee.
- You have the following three (3) items ready to submit with the application. (1) Letter of recommendation written by a member of the college community [student, faculty or administrator]. (2) Candidate statement as to why you wish to be a Student Board Member. (3) Candidate photo (headshot) which will be used during the campaign.
- You have reached out to your student peers to have them endorse your candidacy. A petition with one hundred (100) student signatures and college ID numbers must be submitted with the completed application.
- Only candidates with an approved application package may begin campaigning for the position of Student Trustee.
Deadline to submit application is Friday, March 14, 2025 to have your name appear on the ballot.
Write-In Candidate deadline Wednesday, March 26, 2025 by 4:00 pm.
Students interested in running for their local student government position (for ASO/U/G President, Vice President, Treasurer) for the District’s nine colleges, please visit the ASO/U/G office to request an application.
