Dr. Amanuel Gebru Announced As LACC’s New President
LOS ANGELES – On June 7, the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Dr. Amanuel Gebru as the next permanent President of Los Angeles City College (LACC) beginning August 1, 2023. Dr. Gebru will follow President Dr. Mary Gallagher, who is retiring and has served in the role since January 2018. “Dr. Gebru brings a strong energy and commitment to transforming students and our community through learning.
He impressed us with his leadership experience, his passion for education and equity and his dedication to student success,” said LACCD Board of Trustees President David Vela. “Dr. Gebru has the vision, energy and leadership experience to lead LACC with strategic agility, empathy and integrity,” said Chancellor Francisco C. Rodriguez.
“He has committed his entire career to serving diverse populations and is passionate about access and educational opportunity, advancing racial equity, and increasing student achievement.”
