East Los Angeles College celebrates Women's History Month with luncheon and teatime
East Los Angeles College (ELAC) hosted its first Women's History Month Luncheon/Teatime Celebration on Thursday, March 21, in collaboration with the ELAC Foundation and Transtech Engineers Inc.
The event, titled "President's Women's History Month Celebration," was attended by distinguished guests, including California Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis, Dr. Martha Garcia, President & CEO of Mt. San Antonio College, and Lenore French, President & founding member of Transformation Arts.
The luncheon and teatime were a time to recognize and celebrate the extraordinary achievements of women throughout history, both within the ELAC community and beyond. The event featured a panel discussion featuring panelists from diverse backgrounds, including Lt. Gov. Kounalakis, Dr. Garcia, and Lenore French. The discussion focused on the importance of gender equality and promoting women leadership in leadership roles.
In her remarks, Lieutenant Governor Kounalakis highlighted the achievements of women in community colleges and beyond, noting that over half of the nearly two million students served by community colleges are women.
The ELAC faculty and staff were also encouraged to showcase their unique style, with prizes being awarded for the best-dressed individuals and the most outstanding hats.
