General Healthcare Coverage
Dependent children may remain covered under your healthcare plan if they meet eligibility requirements. Coverage typically extends until they turn 26, but additional conditions may apply. Contact @email for confirmation.
No. Dental insurance is separate from CalPERS medical plans. The District offers retiree dental plans, or you may choose private coverage.
Changes to your health plan are generally limited to the Open Enrollment period. However, qualifying life events—such as marriage, divorce, birth, or loss of other coverage—may allow you to make changes mid-year. Contact @email for details.
Medicare and Reimbursement
Eligible retirees who enroll in Medicare Part B may receive reimbursement for their premiums. The reimbursement process and eligibility vary depending on your retirement agreement and whether you are a survivor of a retiree. Apply as soon as you enroll in Medicare to avoid delays.
For more information, please visit the Medicare B Reimbursement Process page!
The District provides ASIFlex with an updated list of eligible retirees annually by mid-January.
Survivor and Dependent Care Coverage
As a surviving spouse, you may be eligible to continue healthcare coverage. Processing times for coverage transfer vary but typically takes 30 days after notification. Submit required documents to CalPERS as soon as possible to prevent gaps in coverage.
Life Insurance and Address Updates
Yes. District-provided life insurance typically ends upon retirement. However, retirees may have options to convert their policy into an individual plan. If you purchased additional life insurance as an active employee, contact New York Life at 800) 423-1282 to confirm whether your policy can continue.
Retirees should update their address with the District by submitting an email to @email . If you are enrolled in CalPERS, you must also notify them separately.
