Update on Jan 8, 2025 @ 9:18pm

Dear LACCD Family,

We hope you remain safe. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the fires. We stand with you during these challenging times and send our heartfelt support.

We continue to monitor the impact of the fires and have decided to physically close the college sites, and move all in-person classes and support services to zoom or online for Thursday, January 9.

Employees whose job can't be performed from home remotely, shall take the Day of Mourning granted by the District. This includes but is not limited to Local 99, Trades, other employees in plant facilities and student workers.

Students attending in person classes should be prepared to take their class online or on zoom. Your instructor will communicate with details.

Please stay safe.

LACCD ALERT

Due to ongoing fires and weather conditions, most LACCD campuses remain open; however, there are specific impacts to employees and students.

LA Mission College (LAMC) Update:

All LAMC campuses, including the Pacoima location, are temporarily closed. In-person classes and Student Service support will be conducted online. The LAMC East campus is currently experiencing a power outage. For ongoing updates, please visit lamission.edu/hurstfire

General Guidance:

Avoid areas with heavy tree cover or unsecured objects during high winds. Be mindful of air quality and limit outdoor activities if smoke is present. Report any on-campus hazards like downed branches to your campus facilities office or Sheriff's Office. If impacted by fires or evacuations, employees should notify supervisors, and students unable to attend class should inform instructors.

Our priority is your safety, and we will provide updates affecting college operations as needed.

Thank you for your cooperation. Stay safe!

Update on Jan 8, 2025 @ 8:24am

Dear LACCD Community,

I want to provide an update regarding the fires and current weather conditions.

At this time, all LACCD campuses remain open. If conditions change or require adjustments to operations, we will provide timely updates as we continue to assess the situation.

Our facilities and emergency teams are actively working to address the potential impacts of these conditions.

We encourage everyone to stay safe and prepared:

  • Avoid areas with heavy tree cover or unsecured objects during high winds.
  • Be mindful of air quality and limit outdoor activities if smoke from fires is present in your area.
  • Report downed branches, trees, or other hazards to your campus facilities office immediately.
  • Follow all instructions from local authorities and emergency personnel in the event of an emergency.
  • Stay informed with local news and monitor campus-specific announcements.

If you are personally impacted by the wind, fires, or are being evacuated, please communicate with your supervisor as soon as possible so we can provide support and ensure continuity of operations. If you are a student and unable to attend class, please notify your instructor.

Your safety is our top priority. Thank you for your cooperation as we navigate these extreme weather conditions together.

Sincerely,
