Fire Resources and Support

January 10, 2025

By Juliet Hidalgo

Dear LACCD Community,

As we continue to witness the devastating impacts of the ongoing fires across our region, I want to extend my deepest compassion and unwavering support to each and every member of our Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) family. During these trying times, your safety, well-being, and peace of mind remain our highest priorities.

In the wake of the wildfires, many in our community are beginning the long journey of rebuilding their lives. The impact on LACCD students, faculty, and staff has been especially profound, with countless individuals now facing significant hardships as they strive to regain stability and continue their educational journeys. To those who have been directly affected by these fires—whether through displacement, loss, or uncertainty—please know you are not alone. LACCD is here to provide resources, guidance, and care for navigating this challenging time.

As part of our Districtwide response, the Foundation for the Los Angeles Community Colleges has launched the LA Strong: Disaster Response Fund to provide direct assistance to those within our community who have been impacted. This fund serves as a vital lifeline, offering emergency relief such as temporary housing, meals, and academic resources to those who need it most. Students, staff, and faculty in need of support are encouraged to visit the Fund's webpage for resources and assistance.

How You Can Help

  • Make a Gift to the LA Strong Fund: Your generosity can make a real difference during this critical time. Visit the Foundation's website to contribute.
  • Spread the word about the LA Strong Fund: Help expand our reach by sharing the donation page via email, text, or social media.
