Honoring the Women Who Inspire, Lead, and Create Change

March 4, 2025

By Juliet Hidalgo

Dear LACCD Community,

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, I want to take a moment to recognize and honor the incredible women who shape our colleges, our communities, and our world. At LACCD, we are proud that many of our senior leadership positions are held by strong, visionary women who are guiding our District with resilience, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to student success.

Women have always been at the forefront of change, bringing bold ideas, compassionate leadership, and fearless determination to every space they enter. In today’s rapidly evolving world, these qualities are more important than ever. We need strong voices and courageous leaders to challenge the status quo, open new doors, and create lasting opportunities for future generations.

Part of that progress includes breaking down barriers that have kept too many women from pursuing careers in industries that for far too long have been labeled as “male-dominated.” It is time to redefine these fields as equally dominated by both men and women. At LACCD, we are committed to removing obstacles, expanding access, and ensuring that every woman feels empowered to pursue the career of her choosing, without limitations.

On a personal note, I am continually inspired by the strength and resilience of the women in my life. My fierce and strong mother was my rock—she taught me the value of hard work, the importance of always helping those in need, and to remain humble no matter where life takes you. She encouraged me to think beyond limitations and to always believe in what is possible. She inspires me every day, reminding me of the importance of lifting others up, breaking barriers, and pushing forward so that all women—now and in the future—have the opportunities they deserve.

As we celebrate this month, let’s commit to supporting, uplifting, and championing the women who lead, inspire, and pave the way for future generations. Together, we can build a future where every individual—regardless of gender—has the opportunity, support, and encouragement to succeed.
