Dear Esteemed LACCD Colleagues,

Welcome to the Fall 2024 semester!

We stand on the threshold of a new academic year, full of hopes, dreams and aspirations. As this will be my final Opening Day as your Chancellor before I retire, I want to share again what a distinct honor it has been to serve this District alongside you, my esteemed colleagues. I am filled with gratitude, pride and optimism.

I am incredibly proud of the work that we have accomplished together to foster the success of the very talented and inspiring students who we are privileged to serve, while fulfilling our community college mission of providing access, equity and educational opportunity. I am confident in this District's promising future to continue fulfilling this noble and necessary purpose.

Our nine colleges are and will remain beacons of hope and opportunity, and this year is no exception. We accept every student without exception and without apology. Each of you, in your respective role as educators, contributes to the rich environment that makes our District a dynamic place of learning, growth and transformation.

As we embark on this new academic year, let us do so with intentionality, collaboration, innovation and fierce determination. Your efforts are making a difference!
